Description
The Flicker Beat Quilt uses a traditional star quilt block created using squares and triangles. I love how different this block can look depending on the placement of the fabrics selected, particularly when mixing solid fabrics with patterned prints.
It was hard coming up with a name for this one as anything to do with stars was already taken. After looking at a thesaurus for word suggestions for ‘Twinkle’ I landed on the word Flicker. I instantly connected it to the word beat as it reminded me of the Lorde song of the same name. I think the two words together work well to describe the quilt. The stars flicker through the quilt, standing out but receding at the same time. The whole design has a rhythm to it, like the stars and squares are dancing together to their own beat.
Finished Piecing Size
The mini quilt measures approximately 14.5 inches x 14.5 inches including binding. Each block measure 4 x 4 inches, with a 1 inch border to the top, bottom and sides. I used a ½ inch binding.
