“Stitched Stories: Weaving a Love for Books, Reading, and Crafting”

There’s something magical about the way books transport us to new worlds, while stitching allows us to create something beautiful, stitch by stitch. When you bring together a love of reading and the art of stitching, the result is a perfect blend of creativity and escape. Whether it’s curling up with a good novel or working on a handmade project, these two passions have a way of calming the mind, sparking the imagination, and providing an endless source of joy. In this blog, we’ll explore the beauty of combining these two beloved hobbies and how they complement each other in the most delightful ways.

Books and reading take us on a journey of discovery, through storytelling and the learning of knowledge. Our quilts and projects are stories too, telling a tale of life lived, love shared, hopes and dreams, sorrows and joy. Our pieces become time capsules, the thread and fibers stitched together holding our memories and emotions forever.

Just as authors weave together tales of characters, telling stories of love, fantasy, epic adventures, trials and victories, so to stitchers weave the same stories through needle and thread.

Our quilts and projects tell a story of where we were in our lives when they were stitched. They embody the memories of what was happening when they were made and where they were made.

Different stitches, shapes, motifs and blocks dance across fabric just as words dance across the page telling a story with purpose and meaning.

What a wonderful thing it is to share our story through fiber, thread and fabric.

Introducing the Book Lovers Bundle

I am thrilled to be collaborating with seven other talented designers to create a bundle of free book-themed sewing patterns as an opportunity to share our mutual love for books and creativity with a wider community. By joining forces, we are able to offer something truly special—unique patterns that celebrate the joy of reading while providing fun, hands-on projects for fellow crafters. Each of us bring our own perspective and expertise, making this bundle a diverse collection that can inspire both seasoned stitchers and beginners alike. The best part? It’s completely free, as a way to give back to a community that shares our passion for books and sewing, and to inspire others to blend these two joyful hobbies together.

When Lauren of Molly and Mama presented me with the idea of collaborating together on a sewing pattern bundle I was thrilled, when she alluded to the idea of it being book themed I came on board without hesitation. I love books and reading and I had already being playing with an idea in my mind for a book pouch made using hexies and EPP.

Together we came up with a list of designers who we would love to work with, and we were blown away when they all said yes! All of these beautiful ladies are like superstars to me in our quilty world. They are all amazing Girl Bosses, designers, makers and truly lovely women, and it’s been a joyful experience to work with them. Without further adieu allow me to introduce you to the designers of the Book Lover’s Bundle:

Together we have created a beautiful bundle of book themed projects:

Miss Leela’s Book Lovers Pouch (English paper pieced pouch for book storage)

Emma’s Classic Book Needle Book (two book shaped needle books designs based on literary classics and featuring embroidery and needle turn appliqué)

For my Book Lover’s Pouch I created a snug design using hexagons and diamonds pieced in vertical rows. The pouch panel is quilted to give it a lovely soft squishy feel, and its lined with an easy open closure with bound edge. I used fabrics from the lovely Milkwood Range by Judy Newman for Devonstone Fabrics.

The Book Lover’s Bundle is available for FREE for a very limited time!

The bundle will be available Wednesday 19th February at 9am AEDT.

The bundle closes Wednesday 26th February.
