The Gentle Stitcher’s Companion

Welcome to the Gentle Stitcher’s Companion

A little place to slow down, stitch with intention and find joy in the simple things.

Created by Lauren from Molly and Mama and Miss Leela from The Maker’s Stash, the Gentle Stitcher’s Companion is a celebration of slow stitching, creativity, friendship and the things that make a maker’s heart happy. Inside, you’ll find beautiful projects to stitch, thoughtful stories and interviews, creative inspiration, gentle encouragement, and a little dose of garden, flowers, tea, books and vintage goodness.

It’s more than a collection of sewing projects, it’s an invitation to make time for creativity, embrace the joy of hand stitching and savour the gentle rituals that surround it.

A little peek inside…

The Gentle Stitcher’s Companion has been created for those who find joy in the quiet rhythm of making.

Within its pages you’ll discover projects to stitch, stories to savour, creative women to meet, and plenty of inspiration for bringing a little more handmade joy into everyday life.

Here’s just a little taste of what awaits inside…

Slow stitching projects

Projects made slowly, with heart.

There’s something special about a project made one little stitch at a time.

Inside the Companion you’ll find a collection of gentle stitching projects designed to be enjoyed slowly — with scraps from your stash, a cup of tea beside you and no need to hurry.

From English Paper Piecing to embroidery and slow stitched cloth techniques, these are projects to savour, personalise and make entirely your own.

Heirloom Hearts

The Joyful Stitcher’s Companion

A collection of handmade fabric heart decorations in various patterns and colours, arranged in a woven basket. There are also yellow and purple flowers in a small pot in the background.
A beautifully arranged display featuring a patchwork book cover in pastel colours, alongside a pink pincushion, sewing threads, and a collection of fabric pieces. Fresh yellow flowers are present, enhancing the tranquil sewing setting.

Gather a handful of your favourite little fabric treasures and settle in for some slow stitching.

These simple hearts are made using Leela’s Patched & Stitched Cloth method, layering scraps of pretty fabric, vintage textiles, lace, ribbons and other treasured snippets before securing them with gentle, imperfect stitches.

Each heart becomes its own little composition — a place where forgotten scraps can be given a new life and treasured fabrics can be enjoyed once again.

Leave your heart as a flat piece to stitch onto a bag, pouch, cushion, garment or wall hanging, or add a little stuffing and ribbon to create a hanging decoration. Make several into a garland or swag, or create a heart especially for someone you love.

There are no rules about what belongs together. Choose what catches your eye, stitch slowly and enjoy the process of turning little scraps into something precious.

The Joyful Stitcher’s Companion is a sweet EPP sewing case designed to keep your favourite stitching tools and notions together, wherever you go.

The case features an EPP panel of jewel flowers and hexagons and folds open flat to reveal handy pockets along its length. The set also includes a matching needle book and pincushion, each decorated with a little EPP flower.

Simple to sew and perfect for using scraps from your stash, this is a lovely project to make for yourself or a fellow stitcher. Pop it into your sewing bag for workshops, stitching gatherings, retreats or travelling, or fill it with the notions you need for a particular project.

A little case for keeping your stitching close.

Pantry Petals Jam Jar Bonnets

Favourite Things Sampler

Three jam jars adorned with decorative fabric bonnets featuring floral embroidery, arranged on a light background with delicate flowers nearby. The bonnets have lace trim and ribbons, adding a charming touch.
A decorative textile sampler featuring various embroidered designs, including a flower watering can, hexagons, and sewing scissors, set against a pink background. The text 'Grow beauty, Stitch joy' is embroidered prominently, along with a circular logo for 'The Gentle Stitcher's Companion.'

Add a little handmade charm to your pantry with these sweet Pantry Petals Jam Jar Bonnets. A humble jar of homemade jam or honey becomes a thoughtful hostess gift when topped with a beautifully stitched cover.

In the Gentle Stitcher’s Companion, Lauren from Molly and Mama shares how to create these darling little bonnets using delicate hand embroidery, vintage linens and the tiniest of hexagons.

A charming little project for stitching, gifting and adding a touch of handmade beauty to your pantry.

For The Gentle Stitcher’s Companion, Lauren and I have created a little sampler celebrating the things we love most, stitching, flowers, gardening, reading, tea and friendship.

Combining English Paper Piecing and embroidery, the design brings both of our creative styles together in one sweet little hanging.

But Favourite Things Sampler is about more than the things we love. It’s a celebration of our friendship and the joy of creating together, a little piece of our shared story, stitched into something we hope you’ll treasure too.
